Our help articles should make a restaurant payment easier to understand. A longer article is not automatically a better one, and a calculator result is not a substitute for an agreement at the table.
Authorship and tools
Guides are published under Jamie Carter, the disclosed pen name of the site's creator. We do not claim an editorial team, professional accreditation, or independent review. AI tools assist with drafting, editing, coding, and checks. Their output is not treated as evidence for factual claims, and we do not describe generated anecdotes as first-hand experience.
Examples and calculation checks
Worked examples identify their assumptions. Fictional receipts, names, tax rates, and dinner scenarios are marked as illustrative. A sample tax percentage is not a local rate recommendation. Examples describing Quick Dine Split are checked against its implementation; any important limitations, such as equal tip sharing in person mode, should be explicit.
Calculation tests can catch mistakes, but they do not guarantee every input is handled correctly. Readers should compare results with their receipt and report discrepancies.
Sources and scope
For externally verifiable claims, especially about mandatory charges, we prefer original sources such as government guidance. Links appear beside the relevant explanation, with a check date when the information may change. We avoid unverified tax tables, invented statistics, fabricated quotations, and unsupported claims about what every restaurant or payment app does. General dining suggestions are presented as choices, not legal obligations.

Guides display publication and update dates. Existing pages keep their original publication date where repository history establishes it. Update dates reflect substantive edits, not an attempt to make unchanged articles look new. Structured data should match the visible page.
New topics need a distinct purpose. We link to an existing explanation rather than repeating it across several keyword variations. Tables, checklists, and screenshots are used when they help readers, not to meet a content quota.
